Zartico:
We pride ourselves on being a data-driven organization. ROOST started working with Zartico in 2022 to gather new, advanced insights into visitor travel throughout the Adirondack region. Our goal with the data is to enhance destination marketing strategies, which aligns with our mission of responsible tourism management and sustainable community development. By leveraging advanced location and spend insights into visitor travel, we aim to effectively manage tourism, optimize marketing efforts, and ensure that the influx of visitors is balanced and sustainable. This approach not only benefits the community and region by fostering responsible tourism practices, but also supports local businesses by providing insights to enhance their services.

ROOST updates ~ Catherine
• Please take the Community Visioning Survey which will help shape updates to the North Elba-Lake Placid Comprehensive Plan
• ROOST is preparing for the Adirondack Day, May 6, 2024 event. The mission of the day is to raise the New York State legislature’s awareness of what comprises a living, breathing, and working Adirondack Park
• We have the following writers visiting Lake Placid, ORDA venues
      – Catherine Arquilla, freelance, is working on a story for Everett Potter’s Travel Report about Lake Placid (will also be pitching GoNOMAD)
      – Claire Volkmann, freelance for Cosmopolitan and AFAR
      – Shayla Martin, freelance for Hemispheres (United Airlines’ in-flight mag)
      – Catherine Parker, freelance for U.S. News/MSN/Carfulokids.com
• The ROOST team will take the first look at a draft of the possible/new Lake Placid Brand next week
• Don’t miss out on this final opportunity to secure your Adirondack-branded Eclipse glasses! Order before February 14th for delivery by April 1st and be fully prepared for the eclipse
• New CEO in place in May 2024 (goal) Kellie Henderson, senior vice president, is leading the search effort at SearchWide Global. With her wealth of experience and extensive knowledge in executive search, she is well-equipped to find the ideal candidate to fill the position of CEO for ROOST
• Community Day: The Lake Placid Community Day organizing committee is seeking nominations for its distinguished Volunteer of the Year award. Nominations are due by April 1, 2024. Please send any nominations to Catherine@roostadk.com
4th of July: the committee met this past week at ROOST to discuss next year’s event and schedule meeting moving forward
• Upcoming Conferences: calendar

Village Updates ~ Marc

• ECAC’s in March + Bobsled event the same weekend

CANAM ~ Vicki
• Getting feedback that they aren’t accessible and don’t care. Not true! They want to hear from you if there is an issue.
Any bad behavior can impact participation – they will kick out teams/players/families, but they need to know when it happens, not after the team has already left ( most have matching team gear and credentials so you can at least find out the team and they can go from there)
• Please make sure you know what group is actually in town – get calls on weekends when CANAM isn’t even here
• Best Contact: 262-249-1210 during events and press the prompt to Lake Placid Events #2

Other
Check Fraud: local business owner had 3 checks stolen from the mail, altered, and attempted to be fraudulently cashed. Happening down in Albany when the mail is sorted. Postal Inspector is involved now. Be vigilant when reconciling bank statements double checking that the vendor is actually being paid.
