• Great turnout for the Sports Council Main Street meeting. Will do an evening meeting too
• Have been hosting influencers. Will send out list to follow
• Working with Film Festival. At least one of the Hanson Brothers is expected to be here. Also ran a contest for free stay/dining/passes and got 5,000 sign-ups
• Had a great photo shoot at John Brown Farm, canoeing on Mirror Lake, and a picnic in the new park on Main Street

• Construction: planning on striping today/tomorrow. Paving was delayed because the state decided to inspect the plant
• Dock coming out soon (possibly this week). Foam underneath is very crumbly – will place a sock to catch it
• New water plant completion spring of next year. Half will go online before the games. Is on budget and schedule
• Petition for a sidewalk on Wesvalley. Would love to do it, but expensive – 1.5 million
Holiday Village Stroll ~ Joell Stetson
• Small committee is making a lot of progress! Current schedule/details will be on the HVS website SOON.
• Running Newspaper insert again. If you’d like to advertise your business, please fill out this form from Carol at The Enterprise. Deadline is November 4.
• We would also like to add dining/shopping promotions/specials in the paper and on the HVS website/social. If you are running anything special (this includes events too), please email joell@golden-arrow the details. Deadline to be included in the paper is 11/4. HVS Website/social deadline is 11/21.

•STRs- major meeting tonight about changes; penalties currently criminal penalty which is hard to enforce. want to change to civil to give high fines. Currently allowed on Main Street level in corridors. Want to change (we want restaurants and businesses in those spots). Want to get ride of STRs in residential neighborhoods. If there’s an ownership change it would fizzle out. Public hearing at 5pm tonight
•Construction: Main Street paving on track. Wanted to do sidewalk from oval to Mill Hill. Bid came in at 1.2M. State wants to do drainage updates so would end up getting torn up so holding off. Waiting on bid for the top lot of NBT lot. Would add 25 spaces

•Small committee is making progress. Making some changes and focusing on big events (skating party, Santa Arrival). Still welcoming more people to join/help out especially weekend of.
•No Price Chopper contest this year; doing our own – no story or photo sharing, just a simple and easy like, tag, follow contest. Any business involved in the giveaway will get social push. If you’re interested in offering something let us know!

• Grant for Peacock Park has been submitted. Grants were due 7/29 so didn’t have time to include everything (erosion issue) based on DEC guidelines. Grant will be for refinishing sidewalks & fences. Didn’t choose a finish for sidewalks – will use whatever is used to finish Parkside.
• Communication Board: looked for a better spot for it in Peacock Park. Board will go by the playground near the pathway that comes down from Parkside. ROOST offered to cover the costs of the board and it’s ordered. It will look similar to the Watershed board and gazebo. If it works, will look at putting up more around other playgrounds/parks.
Arts Council ~ Lori Fitzgerald
• Skidmore students created a document of all visual art & art you can no longer see(taken down/damaged). Document gives a brief history, where it’s stored/ where the pieces are, and the condition. Also connected us to an art restoration expert to see how much it would be to restore some pieces. Trying to find a way to use the document/report as a communication piece and keep the project ongoing. Skidmore wants to keep sending students to help.

• Warming huts: If sponsored need to be non-competitive or have a partnership with local business
• Merchandise/Ticketing person has been hired
• Will be adding more trash/recycling bins to Main St
• Conversation with Casella – currently raising red flags about shifting their day

• Working on getting a presentation together to get promotions & other elements out
• Pint glasses should be ordered this week for that promo

• Working on a partnership with Candian Influencer to try and get more visitors from Canada

• STR central. Public sessions will be coming once more in place
• Curbs and sidewalks were trying to be finished up but felt like they were disrupting. Will do after Labor Day
• Two water connections still to do south of Olympic Center – first week of September
• Final paving will be done from Mill Hill to One Main in September
• New signage being produced soon. Thinking about changing delivery times

• 21st year of the event. October 20-23
• Making some changes this year: new programming, reducing the number of films, increased seminars, increased mixers/parties
• Trying to bring people from NYC, Boston, Montreal
• Having an award show at the Ski Jumps to tie into the Adirondacks more
• 40th Anniversary of ET: showing for the free family movie on Saturday

•Communication Board: meeting Wednesday to discuss if we can/want to put one by the beach for nonverbal kids
•The municipal lot sign has been removed. Discussion of electronic sign replacing it. Working with Rotary on getting a grant

•Police: 1 PT and on FT parking enforcement officers have been hired, training and are on the street.
•Electric: Main Street outage was due to older wiring on the lakeside of Main Street. Work on replacing wiring will start winter of next year.
•Main St: Sidewalk in front of Starbucks had to be re-excavated due to trace containments found in soil samples. Sidewalk installation should continue this week with little interruption to traffic.
Hookups to the new waterline south of the conference center will continue this week with flaggers.
The final coat of pavement is scheduled for Mid September.
•Village: A new administration position was created within the village to research grants as well as to help both Mindy and the mayor with various administrative tasks.

Engaged Northwood and LPCA to work with schools on youth street art. Younger grades will come up with concepts, older grades will execute. Skidmore students will begin to inventory and research Olympic Art.

Goal is to drive traffic downtown. Medals at Mids Park when possible. Cauldron (LED) at Brewster Park which will be movable and reusable. Volunteer Recruitment in full swing, 1800 Needed. Volunteer uniforms will be fashionable and functional beyond the games.

Bucky retired from traffic enforcement. Interviews being conducted for 2 open positions. Water/Sewer rates were increased to help offset the cost of the new Water Treatment Plant. The Village is hiring in many departments. Main Street will be almost complete when work stops late June. This will include line striping and signage. Final paving/signage/striping finishing touches (and the South waterline) will be wrapped up this Fall.
DISCUSSION: What is happening with the Holiday Stroll? Can Roost become more engaged? Who is going to lead?

• Chuck Dobson was officially hired as Chief of Police after a special village board meeting. Chuck is an integral part of the community
• One-way traffic starts on Main Street starting 4/11
• PLEASE NOTE one-way will now start at the top of Mill Hill to facilitate a new waterline from the conference center to the traffic light at Wilsons Appliance
• Parkside will be oneway (south) from the post office until club way to help with the detour
• The water treatment plant will receive much-needed upgrades within the next 1-2 years. This will affect water/sewer rates going forward
• Electric rates will stabilize in the spring months. East coast demand for power put us in a bad situation to pay for power on the open market

–RFPs out for the beach fence designs. Asking artists to craft & create something that will last at least three years. We will apply for a LEAF fund once we have a better idea of designs/bids. Could end up being a fence builder instead of an artist
-Starting a column in Lake Placid News that outlines goals, what we are doing, etc. Various other committees may be writing/contributing
-The crosswalk arts project was approved. The goal is to paint crosswalks near parks (non-state roads). Asking kids that live near the parks to help create the design – want it to be fun & colorful!
-The High School/JR High students created a mosaic for the ambulance. When the pieces are put together, they create the ambulance logo

-Continuing to transfer previous year’s agendas to the website along with helpful pdfs and other resources
-I will add/update businesses as they submit their forms/payments for 2022
-Once I have a good list of current members I will work out a social plan to help promote businesses on Facebook and Instagram
ORDA ~ JOE CURRIE:
-Skating on the oval is $10 for everyone Monday-Friday (holidays excluded)
-USA Rink is fully hooked up to the new refrigeration and open for skating
-TBD on the 80 Rink being open; closed to the public
-There will not be any indoor public skating this week because of prep for the Northwood Invitational
-Mountain Coaster is closed until spring

-Working with the Adirondack Sports Council, ORDA, and various businesses on an Olympic Celebration Committee. Theme is “The Legacy Continues”. The goal is to celebrate the winter Olympics this February. Currently working on finalizing schedules of events
-jumbotron in Mid’s Park streaming the Olympics
-hoping to light the caldron at the horse show grounds for either opening or closing ceremonies. Most likely closing ceremonies since ESWG will be lighting for the end of the torch relay the night before.

-Working on 2022-23 winter marketing ideas so they can get photoshoots scheduled/done now
VILLAGE ~ MARC GALVIN:
-There are two officers retiring from the police department + they have a couple of new recruits
-Work Session: Parking enforcement. There has been a complete lack of it. They have been hesitant to write tickets because of a lack of signage and the meters not working properly. There are new temporary signs on Main Street; partnering with ROOST to create better ones
-Short term rental lawsuit dropped; can work on changing it now
-Brad & Peter met with the company that designed the ORDA parking garage plans. They will be getting designs/costs for the NBT lot and then will finish applying for LEAF funding
-Brad is working on getting the lights by Wesvalley back on. Usually, only keep something like that on if there are a lot of accidents. Hoping this can be an exception. Lights at the bottom of Olympic Drive will go away after construction
LP23 ~ LORI FITZGERALD:
-One year out celebrations. Will probably have something at Mid’s Park. Whiteface & Gore will have a party.
-Expecting a visit from FISU the weekend of EWSG if they can get here
